Whitesands near St Davids and Newgale beaches awarded Blue Flags for 2023

St Davids has some wonderful beaches nearby... most within just a few minutes of our cottages.

Whitesand Bay is our favourite and it's overlooked by the very impressive Carn Llidi. It also has wonderful views across to Ramsey Island.

It is, unquestionably, one of the best surfing beaches in the country and very popular with locals and tourists alike.

The surf is particularly good at the north end of the beach and, on good days, you will see canoeists, surfers and body boarders competing for the very best waves!

To the south end of the beach, there are some lovely sheltered bays, which will protect you from any winds and are great for picnics and privacy!

The beach has easy access via a slipway and hosts a large car park, café,  shop and surf hire facility.

Whitesand Bay was awarded a blue flag in 2023, has a dog restriction from May 1 to September 30th and is patrolled by Lifeguards during the summer months.

Caerfai Bay

Caerfai Bay is the nearest beach to St David's and very popular with both residents and visitors.

It is great for swimming, rock pooling, caving and snorkelling and has the benefit of being south facing and very sheltered.

The beach is a very short distance from the city and there is an easy walk down on a safe path.

At high tide, it is mostly rocks and boulders, but, as the tide goes out, it reveals a wide expanse of perfect, clean sand.

Newgale

Newgale Beach provides an enormous expanse of sand and surf… almost 2 miles along with a huge pebble beach at the back.

It's very popular for surfing and kitesurfing and, along with many beaches in Wales, was awarded a blue flag in 2023.
